West Virginia Children Need YOU!
Braley & Thompson is a subsidiary of ResCare Youth and Children Services partnering with people in the community who open their homes to children in need of an alternate, safer living environment.
~Foster Care & Adoption~
Foster parents offer a safe and stable environment in order to help children learn to manage social, emotional and educational issues associated with the complex trauma of abuse and neglect. Foster families work with a team of professionals to develop responses to the individual needs of each child and to build healthy family relationships.
Braley & Thompson coordinates with court systems, public placing agencies and foster and biological parents to support the reunification of children with their family. If reunification is not possible, we assist the custodial agency in finding permanent placement for children and facilitate the adoption process with our families.
We work closely with foster families to ensure development of a positive relationship and we remain in continuous contact with all team members to meet each child’s individual needs.
To ensure that we provide the best care to our foster children, we have the following minimum qualifications to becoming a foster parent:
- Pass background checks
- At least 21 years of age
- In good mental and physical health
- No past or present Child Protective Services involvement
- Adequate space for all children in home
- Sufficient income to support household while incorporating an additional child into the home
- Valid driver’s license and car available to transport children to appointments

“Fostering is so needed and is an opportunity to show a child that he/she is important and loved. The most important thing to remember when fostering is that it isn’t about you. It’s about helping these kids to the best of your ability for as long as you have them, whether it’s a week, a month, or a lifetime.” –B&T Foster Parent-
